Maintenance

My SoftSpa needs maintenance. Where can I go for repairs and where can I buy parts?

We rebuild all brands of soft (vinyl) spas. We also carry a large inventory of factory parts & accessories. Our technicians are also licensed as authorized softspa service technicians. Contact us for information & prices.

What do I do when my pump is leaking?

Pump seals wear out in approximately two years of normal use in Softub brand softspas and Comfort Spas. They seal around the motor shaft where it enters the pump enclosure. A leak at the seal starts as a drip, but soon develops into a spray. This spray often ends up going directly into the pump motor, damaging pump motors & controls in a fairly short time. Please check for seal leaks often. At the first sign of a seal leak, send us your pump assembly or powerpak and we will assess for damage, professionally change both the seal kit & O-rings, and then water test the pump. We always return repaired products to our clients as quickly as possible.

The liner of my SoftSpa looks damaged or worn. What can I do to prevent long-term damage?

Vinyl liners are often damaged by improper water treatment. Bromine OR Chlorine should be kept down to 1-2 ppm (parts per million). PH should be kept up to 7.6 ppm and Alkalinity should be kept up to 150 ppm. PH and Alkalinity levels are regulated by adding PH/Alkalinity increaser regularly. This keeps acid from eating the liner (as well as seals, gaskets, & O-rings).

How can I keep the water in my SoftSpa clean without refilling it with fresh water all the time?

PH/alkalinity increaser helps rid the water of excess calcium & iron. Weekly adding SHOCK will oxidize OUT used Bromine or Chlorine, which both hold bacteria over time. Use Spa Perfect (for vinyl) to oxidize out body oils on a different day, each week.

What are the most basic and essential things I can do to extend the life of my SoftSpa?

Wipe hair & lint off of the safety suction cover. Remove body oils from the water line after each use. Clean the filter with Filter Revive once a month. Properly maintained, your water will remain crystal clear, harmless to you and your softspa, for a minimum of six months - before it may need changed.

I have a SoftSpa that was purchased from a different seller. Do you provide parts for other spas that are not sold on this site?

Softub, Comfort Spa, Supertub, Splashtub and our new Superior SoftSpas are the brands we helped develope and specialize in. We cannot always help with the many, cheap, “blow-up”, “take apart” and “look-alike” vinyl tubs being sold for less than our wholesale prices. Most are made outside of the United States and parts are not readily available. We can, however, help you keep the vinyl interior in better shape, longer, by advising you of property water treatment with our “Amerse” products — formulated especially for our softspas’ vinyl liners.

Please, be aware of cheap prices on “look-alike” tubs designed to take advantage of our quality softspa popularity.

Health & SoftSpas

Can HIV be transmitted in hot tubs?

No. There are no reported cases of HIV transmission through hot tubs. The virus is killed by the normal levels of chlorine used to disinfect public swimming pools, saunas, and hot tubs. Check out this article from the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies for more information.

Can soft spas keep your skin young?

You betcha! When you soak in one of our SoftSpas, your body experiences vasodilation. This means that your blood vessels expand and can more readily provide oxygen and nutrients to your skin, helping to keep your skin cells healthy and young.

Is it safe to use a SoftSpa during pregnancy?

While we are not medical professionals, a good rule of thumb is to never use a hot tub during early pregnancy, and that use of a hot tub during late pregnancy is OK in small doses.

Can a SoftSpa help with diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes patients should absolutely not use any type of hot tub, however, under the direction of a physician, many type 2 diabetes patients have seen substantial improvements from using their spa.
